colorful abstracts, inspired by shapes and stucture in nature

When painting “Koos” Leeuwenburgh creates lines and shapes inspired by plants, animals, and forms that exists in nature. Material use varies from laquer and acrylic to the use of certain glues that complements his immense technical creativeness. He often incorporates various golds in his artworks, enriching the already colourful composition, and to accent the precious value of gold in connection to nature. His imagination and inspiration stems from visions of nature that surround him. This vision gives him the freedom and creative expression to use a variety of materials, and paints to express his natural world filled with colourful creatures. Leeuwenburgh is self-taught and started to paint intuitive.

Leeuwenburgh belongs to an expanding worldwide group of artists, bringing a strong message containing a personal identity. To protect nature and to promote awareness for its care With his artistic expressions he calls for an active participation of nature preservation globally, also as a individual. In his case an artist/painter. He was born in the Amazon Rain forest (Surinam 1960) and has travelled extensively since. His youth in Suriname and his nature travels around the world give him this distinct inspiration. On his travels he witnessed the constant human destruction of nature by mankind with his behaviour. Consciously and unconsciously mankind brings about a unrepairable destruction to mother earth. An Indian saying warns us of our ultimate fate: If mankind becomes nature’s enemy, his own nature becomes his greatest enemy. From 1994, Leeuwenburgh has dedicated all his artwork as a message for the protection of the environment.
